WHAT HAPPENED OVER KELLER ON AUGUST 26.

On the evening of August 26, 2026, a severe storm tracked northwest to southeast from Wise County through Denton County and into northeast Tarrant County, producing damaging straight-line winds and hail up to 1.6 inches. The heaviest reports came from the Justin, Ponder, Northlake, Argyle, Roanoke, Haslet, Keller, and Southlake corridor, and Keller sat squarely inside it. Stones around an inch and a half fell across the city, which is the size range that dents sheet metal reliably without necessarily breaking glass — the kind of storm that leaves a car looking fine from ten feet away and covered in dents under a proper light.

The wind mattered as much as the stone size here. Straight-line winds drive hail in at an angle instead of straight down, so Keller vehicles are showing damage on hoods and roofs and also on the northwest-facing door skins, mirror caps, and quarter panels. If you only looked at your roof after the storm, walk the car again along the driver's side. Angled hail damage is the single most commonly missed part of a Tarrant County claim.

WHY THE KELLER CORRIDOR KEEPS GETTING HIT.

Keller sits along the US-377 spine between Fort Worth and the Haslet–Roanoke–Southlake line, in open country on the northwest side of the Metroplex. Along Keller Smithfield Road and FM 1709 the retail and restaurant lots are entirely uncovered, and the storm arrived in the evening while those lots were full. Old Town Keller has street parking under mature trees, which sounds protective and mostly is not: leaves slow rain, not hail.
